Commencal Meta HT AM - Gunmetal edition
I present to you my Commencal Meta HT AM Gunmetal 2021. It's a hardtail mountain bike. I call it : the Dia'beast.
A hardtail bike is a type of mountain bike that has only front suspension (suspended fork) but lacks rear suspension. The term "hardtail" essentially means "hard tail" in English, referring to the absence of rear suspension, unlike full-suspension bikes that have suspension both at the front and rear.
It's a mountain bike designed for riders seeking a balance between lightness, pedaling efficiency, and downhill performance. It's suitable for off-road rides, but it's worth noting that due to the lack of rear suspension, it may be less comfortable on very rugged terrains compared to full-suspension bikes. However, hardtail bikes are appreciated for their simplicity and easier maintenance compared to full-suspension bikes. The MOH (Méga Occitanie Hardtail) will, therefore, be a real challenge with this type of bike.
Upgrades
The Commencal Meta HT AM Essential is the top-of-the-line model in the 27.5'' category. It has been designed to be playful, comfortable, and provide excellent grip. This model was specifically crafted to push the boundaries further towards 'performance,' especially on downhill sections.
To enhance comfort and safety, I upgraded the fork to a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate with 170mm of travel. The difference is noticeable.
The wide 27.5+ tires with a 2.8 section at the rear provide maximum comfort (considering there's no rear suspension!) and excellent grip on the most challenging trails.
For the brakes, I replaced the stock Sram Guide T with a more robust and high-performance version – the Shimano Saint with 203mm discs for even more power and endurance, regardless of the terrain.
The Sram SX Eagle 12-speed transmission features a cassette with an 11-51t range, making climbs a breeze.
To seamlessly transition between pedaling and descending sections, this Meta is equipped with a KS dropper seat post. A significant advantage.
